The EAP concept first evolved out of the Occupational Alcoholism Programming in the early 1940's. Over the years though some major problems developed with placing supervisors into the role of diagnosing alcoholic employees. However, the idea of early-identification of employee problems conceived through those earlier programs was the basis for Employee Assistance Programming, as we know it today. Since that time the focus of EAP has developed into a mega-brush approach.
Associates for Life Enhancement, Inc. (ALE) began in 1979 under the direction of Suzanne Jacki Zipes, LCSW,
LMFT, LCADC, CEAP, and was incorporated in 1987. The company formed exclusively to provide Employee Assistance Programs and behavioral health care. Today, ALE delivers EAP services to both large and small companies, the casino industry, manufacturing industries, and local government.
ALE is listed in the International Employee Assistance Professionals Association, which has a nationwide membership of over 7,000 members. ALE is also a member of the State of New Jersey and National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors and a member of the NJ Governor's Council for a Drug Free Workplace. Additionally, ALE is a member of the Greater Atlantic City Chamber of Commerce.
ALE has the unique ability to respond to the specific needs of the client companies we service. When an employee or family member is in distress, access to intervention is provided immediately.
ALE is pro-active. We believe it is important for the EAP to be recognized as a cost benefit while upholding confidentiality. It is as equally important for employees to feel comfortable enough to access the EAP.
The Employee Assistance Program is structured as a labor and management integrated system designed to:
- Identify employees whose problems impair job performance and create a risk to the occupational safety of the environment and other employees.
- Focus on behavioral manifestations as related to the employees' job performance.
- Recognize any chemical or substance abuse preponderant in the workplace.
|
It is the goal of Associates for Life Enhancement to provide EAP services in order to:
- Achieve a high level of productivity and job performance.
- Promote a sound, confidential communication network between the EAP and the problem employee or their family.
- Recognize the problem of drug or alcohol abuse in an employee and provide proper intervention.
|
As a result, your company should realize a:
- Reduction in the medical use of benefits.
- Reduction in absenteeism as a direct result of professional counseling and referral.
- Enhanced job performance and rate of productivity increased.
- Overall improvement of employee morale and attitude.
- Reduction in the rate of turnover, hence saving the costs of training new replacements.
- Worker's Compensation claims reduced as a direct result of less carelessness on the job.
